Neurotherapy

What is Neurotherapy?

Neurotherapy is a non-invasive, brain-based approach designed to help the brain function more efficiently and with greater balance. At Dr. Gina Dunckel’s clinic, neurotherapy begins with a detailed brain map using EEG technology. This allows us to better understand how your brain is working and identify patterns that may be contributing to symptoms you’re experiencing.

Using this information, we develop a personalized neurotherapy plan tailored specifically to your brain and your needs.

One of the primary tools used in neurotherapy is neurostimulation (also called neuromodulation). Neurostimulation uses gentle, carefully controlled signals to help guide the brain toward healthier activity patterns. The process is non-invasive, does not require medication, and is typically well tolerated. Many clients describe sessions as relaxing or neutral.

Neurotherapy works with the brain’s natural ability to change and adapt—often referred to as neuroplasticity. By addressing underlying neurological patterns, neurotherapy may help reduce symptoms and support improved regulation of the nervous system.

Neurotherapy May Help With:

Trauma and post-traumatic stress symptoms

Chronic stress and nervous system overload

Anxiety and mood dysregulation

Sleep difficulties and fatigue

Focus, attention, and cognitive challenges

Emotional reactivity or feeling “stuck”

Recovery after critical incidents

Difficulty calming the body or mind

The Process

1. We Start by Understanding You
Your journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation with one of our licensed mental health professionals. This allows us to understand your concerns, answer your questions, and explain our approach and available treatment options.

2. We Map Your Brain
Using EEG (electroencephalogram) technology, we create a detailed map of your brain’s activity to better understand how it is functioning. This brain map helps identify patterns that may be contributing to your symptoms.

3. We Create a Personalized Plan
Every brain is unique. Based on your assessment and brain map results, we develop a personalized neurotherapy protocol designed specifically to support your individual needs.

4. We Support Brain Retraining Through Neuromodulation
We utilize advanced neuromodulation techniques to help guide the brain toward more balanced and efficient functioning. These non-invasive sessions are designed to support regulation, resilience, and recovery.

5. We Review Progress Together
After approximately 10–15 sessions, we complete a follow-up EEG and evaluation to review changes and assess progress. Together, we discuss your results and determine whether additional sessions may be beneficial.

Neurostimulation

Neurostimulation is a non-invasive brain-based approach that helps regulate the nervous system, improve focus, and support recovery. It uses gentle technologies—such as targeted electrical stimulation, sound-based stimulation, light therapy, and electromagnetic fields—to help the brain function more efficiently.

At Rise Respond Restore, we specialize in strategically combining these modalities to meet the unique demands of first responders, supporting better sleep, clearer thinking, emotional regulation, and overall performance.

Brain Mapping

EEG brain mapping measures your brain’s electrical activity to identify patterns that may be contributing to symptoms like poor sleep, brain fog, anxiety, or feeling stuck in “high alert.” We collect the EEG data and use advanced analysis tools to compare your results to healthy brain patterns. This gives us a clear, personalized map to guide neurotherapy and support faster, more targeted recovery.
